“It’s not every day you get to meet a real-life hero,” said LTC’s Brad Murray to a crowd of assembled employees. “And today is one of those days.”

On April 27, 2023, LTC honored Scott Chambers, Sheriff’s Deputy of Chesapeake, Virginia. Deputy Chambers—who has also served as a bodyguard, Army Ranger and helicopter pilot—was shot three times in the line of duty by a homicide suspect. He was wearing an LTC-made hard armor plate in his vest, which he credits with saving his life.

“Thank you,” Deputy Chambers said with emotion in his voice. “I’m thankful for the products you produce. Please understand that there are a lot of people utilizing your products who are going home to their loved ones at the end of the day.

“These things matter. What you do matters. You’re saving people’s lives.”

By using the lot number and build record, LTC was able to identify six employees who made Deputy Chambers’ plate. They joined him onstage, exchanging hugs and handshakes with the officer.

LTC president Todd Lair presented Deputy Chambers with a new plate.

“It is my honor to present you with a new plate made by the best armor team in the world,” he said. “Thank you for your service.”
